PMTT-CAVE RUN
What a great time at the Cave! It was great to see everyone once again.
I for one love Cave Run the people are nice the fishing is always fantastic spring or fall ( fall is my favorite ). The PMTT this year had about 80 teams for the first event and the weather could not have been better. The temps were in the 80's for pre-fishing with a cold front that came in on Friday but it did not shut the bite down. 36 fish were caught in the 2 day event with some big ones mixed in. Tim ran another great event with some new bonus money being available. I hope I can get some of that this year.
Mark and I had some luck pre-fishing as soon as we got on the water Tuesday we tried out a few of the new Tyrant Czars and put fish in the boat right away. If you get a chance give one of them a try they. The rest of our pre-fishing went well we saw fish every place that we went and seen some nice fish also. Many of the teams we spoke with were seeing smaller fish but we had a good mix as far the size went. It seemed that the spawn was mostly over with only a few stragglers left doing their thing. Getting down a little early gave Mark and I a chance to break in the new Etec and gave us a reason to fish from one end to the other each day. The new Recon is great and does well with the Etec. It is a joy to fish out of the new rig we had a few days the wind really blew and the Recon handled it very well.
As far as the tournament goes Mark and I, team 26 took 14th with a 36" fish that had just got done spawning. This fish gave its all just before us catching it ( I have never seen a fish this beat up from spawning ) but in a tournament all fish count no matter how beat up they are. Mark caught this fish at about 7:45 on Saturday on a suicidal Sucker ( one of Mark's new glide baits ) only to have Justin and Crash get a 36" just down from us 20 min before us ( they finished 13th because of time ) both of our 36" were the only fish we caught during the tournament but not for lack of seeing fish.
Jerome and Eric team 69 caught a 34" on Saturday but were not able to get a second either. This should give them enough points to get to the championship anyway.
Jon and Jeff team 36 caught a 32.5" on Sunday also getting some points for the championships.
Marty and Don team 29 put a 31.5" on Saturday but could only get a few shorts along with it but this is a points game and they got some points for the championship as well.
Dewey and Denny, Tommy and John, Spencer and Jim, Ron and Wally, Chris and Scott, Chris and Erica, all had fish going while pre-fishing but could not get anything to happen once the tournament got underway. With this many great anglers it will not be long before each of them will get qualified for the championships.
We have to cut Dewey and Denny a little slack Dewey was having boat issues all week, but with the lure of bonus money from Ranger they took a chance instead of bringing Denny's monster Lund down they fished out of Dewey's boat and were not able to fish their main game plan during the tournament. With all the luck Dewey has I am sure they will make it happen in one of the next events.
A special THANKS to all of the teams that wear Top Predator gear or have stickers on their boats and trucks for your support! Remember if you get Top Predator on the stage or have it show up on some form of publication or media.
YOU GET FREE STUFF FROM TOP PREDATOR.

Caves PMTT prize went to Mark Dresow and he received 5 new baits from Tackle Industries along with a new St.Croix rod.
Don’t forget the BBQ at the Hiawatha on Friday before the Eagle River PMTT. I supply the food and the place you bring your own drinks. Everyone is welcome and I will have plenty of T P stuff if you need it.
PMTT-EAGLE RIVER
What a event! The PMTT set a new record for the number of fish caught in a PMTT. For years Madison held that title and now it has moved to Eagle River. Almost half the teams the participated ( 46 ) put a fish in the boat. That’s incredible to say the least. It is no secret that the PMTT has some of the best musky anglers. But these results defy the normal odds.
The fishing during the tournament was as good as the pre-fishing almost every team that I talked to before the event at the BBQ said they were catching fish like crazy. So many in fact a lot of teams fished on a different lake in the day or two before. Mark and I felt good about our game plan and went to a different lake on Friday. It was also a good chance to get to play with a few of Marks new toys. Boy I hope he decides to make enough for everyone he is one talented lure maker!
The yearly BBQ went well! My wife Linda did a great job on the food once again! SPEACIAL THANKS TO HER FOR DOING THIS SHE DOES A GREAT JOB AND NO ONE LEAVES HUNGRY! We had just over 40 people that came this year and look forward to seeing even more next year.
Now for how the Top Predator teams did.
Well Tommy U and Jon are still hot they took 8th with a triple and will get a nice prize for being the highest Top Predator finishing team. They are also in the points lead for the Ironman series. They are a tough team this year!
Jerome and Eric scored again and took 19th ( a great 44” tiger by the way with Eric fishing alone on day 1 ) This also puts them in 7th in the Top Gun points race.
Chris and Scott took 24th and back in the points chase looking to repeat as Top Guns.
Mike and Bill finished 27th in their first PMTT this year and are looking to do well on the Chip. I know Bill wants to get into the championships and win that for the second time.
Spencer and Jim placed 32nd This team need a special mention Jim was in the hospital on Thursday and got out and drove down and fished 2 solid days . Now that’s a musky nut! Too bad they could not get another fish or two they earned it!
Mark and I took 33rd with only 1 fish but it gives us enough points to keep us in the top 10 in Top Gun points. We should have had 2 more but once again I lost fish. Mark said he is going to start putting a cattle prod to me if this keeps up. Maybe Denny should have done that last year.
Last but not least are Chris and Erica they finished 44th but have fished 2 events. Not sure if that will hold on but we can hope it will. This is the last event for them unless they qualify for the Championships. Chris’s job has him going out to west to work and they may not be able to get back for the last 2.
At this point all but 1 of the teams have caught a fish in at least 1 event. We all know that that team will score before the end of the qualifiers. Top Predators should have a good showing in the championships.
Thanks again to everyone that came to the BBQ it is great getting everyone together.
Don’t forget the highest placing team that is in something Top Predator gets a great prize. If you need gear please let me know.
